Frequently Asked Questions

How to start a Phileas® device?
Starting a disinfection program is fast and simple; Phileas® devices are easy to move around and programming is intuitive. Enter the volume of the zone to be treated, the desired biocide dose, the contact time and the number of disinfection cycles. A delay time allows you to leave the room, if the programming was done on the device touch screen and not remotely via MyPhileas® app.
Your Phileas® device checks that the liquid flow is correct before starting the cycle and notifies you immediately if this is not the case. This helps saving time, avoiding to start a cycle that will stop only a few minutes into it.
The MyPhileas® application stores and reports all the information related to the diffusion, therefore offering a complete traceability.
Why using a 7.4% biocide?
Devea’s MicroDrop Technology creates a fine droplets (5-10µm) fog that covers perfectly all surfaces. This homogenous repartition is the first key to efficacy.
Devea’s solutions efficiency is validated by the Marketing Authorisation, according to EN 17-272. Feel free to contact us to ask for our results!
A 7.4% biocide also implies a relatively low total H2O2 concentration during contact phase. Hence a shorter aeration time, and the possibility to reuse the space sooner than with more concentrated biocides.
Lastly, O2SAFE® 7.4% is not corrosive, not classified for transportation and is safer for the users!
Can disinfection with Phileas® be effective up to 6log?
Our solutions Phileas® / O2SAFE® are validated according to the european norm EN 17-272:2020, reaching 4 to 5 log10 according to the micro-organisms and the target industries.
By working on the diffusion parameters, we routinely validate diffusion cycles with 6log biodecontamination in the most difficult conditions with our partners (loaded locks or isolators, difficult floorplan, particular micro-organisms…). Qualifications are validated with Geobacillus stearothermophilus biological indicators, as well as bacteria or virus specific to the production site. Do not hesitate to tell us about your particular conditions!
Do I have to place Phileas® in a corner of the room? Shall I place additional fans?
In the Phileas® module head, the biocide liquid is pumped under the disc and is centrifugated by the high speed spinning disc: micro droplets are propelled to the sides by centrifugal force. The fan located in the Phileas® diffusion head pushes the droplets upwards. At the exit of the disc, we thus observe a 180° diffusion. The Phileas® device can therefore be place on the floor in the centre of the room.
The fog is cold, so there is no issue of stagnating fog in the upper parts of the room. It will disperse naturally in an homogenous manner, not needing additional stirring. It also works well with multi-room setups with open doors.
What are the precautions before starting a diffusion?
Phileas® devices are easy and intuitive. Biodecontamination is nonetheless a crucial step, and we should keep in mind some key points:
- manipulate biocide with caution: when filling up a container, when moving it around with Phileas® (see safety data sheet),
- make sure nothing blocks the fog diffusion in the room and the Phileas® device is thoughtfully located,
- stop the ventilation / HVAC of the treated zone before diffusion, and start it again after contact time for long enough (<1ppm),
- communicate adequately about the disinfection in progress to the other users of the zone!
Are Phileas® products and biocides authorised?
Our biocides are compliant with European regulation (EU) BPR 528/2012.
Our solutions Phileas® / O2SAFE® are compliant with the latest norm EN 17-272 (v2020).
On top of being compliant, products must have a Marketing Authorisation. Devea has been the first supplier in France to have this MA delivered by ANSES in 2019 (FR-2019-0071), validating the fog homogeneity and the efficiency of the device / biocide couple.

How optimise my battery's life? (Phileas® Genius, 15 and 25)
Phileas® Genius and 25 can work on battery or be plugged in, Phileas® 15 works exclusively on battery. Optimise the battery’s life is an economic as much as environnemental matter.
While using the battery often is a normal wear and tear, using it rarely is also decreasing its durability potential. We therefore recommend to charge the battery at least every 3 months. It shall not be left charging permanently.
What should I do with the Phileas® shipping box?
Keep it to reuse it! The shipping box as well as all the protection pads will be useful when you need to safely ship your Phileas® device back to us for the yearly maintenance
