Presentation of the Phileas® Genius at the NHS QA Symposium
What if the bio-decontamination of hospital isolators finally became automated… and validated?
Devea was present at the 2024 NHS QA Symposium Conference, showcasing work carried out on isolators in hospital pharmacies using the Phileas® Genius system.
Out of the 25 posters presented, 2 focused on the 6-log10 disinfection validation of isolators, achieved using the O2SAFE 7.4% H₂O₂ solution and the Phileas® Genius device.
Why such strong interest in the Phileas® Genius? On what basis did the NHS validate the Phileas® solution?
The issue of automated bio-decontamination is becoming central — even in hospital sterile compounding units. A study conducted in a hospital environment focused on the Phileas® Genius, a mobile hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) vapor generator already in use in the pharmaceutical industry.
Compact, autonomous, and programmable, the device offers an effective alternative to manual disinfection methods — which are still widely used in isolators. Through a validated and reproducible process, it achieves a 6-log10 reduction of spores, in line with MHRA standards. It also offers a cost-effective and easy-to-implement solution for replacing outdated integrated VHP systems.
The challenge? A reliable, safe, and more accessible bio-decontamination solution for hospital pharmacies.
